Being invited to set up shop and mingle with some of the automotive industry's top players in the buzzing hive that is FCA's Technology Center offered plenty of benefits, not the least of which was the opportunity to speak directly to FCA's R&D team members. It's not always the most popular approach but PIC believes that a truly successful project kick-off, be it for new parts or parts already in production, means getting these engineers and designers involved in the process as early and as thoroughly as possible. From tooling design to production feasibility and even pricing considerations, engineering and design feedback is invaluable to any supplier who wants to ensure they are providing not just a quality part that fits a budget, but also the intended function.
